We Built a SaaS Product From Scratch. Here's the Story.

There's a moment most busy people know well. You're sitting at your desk, you have seventeen things to do, you know roughly what they all are, and yet somehow — things still fall through the gaps.
Not because you're disorganised. Not because you don't care. But because there has never been one place to see it all.
That moment is exactly what led me to build Dexter.
What Is Dexter?
Dexter is a Centralised Activity Tracker — a C.A.T. — and it's the latest venture from the Whittingham Group. It's a software product I designed, built, and launched in early 2026, and it's available right now at dexterhub.io.
The idea is simple. Dexter gives you one beautiful dashboard where you can manage every task, client, project or responsibility in your life — with recurring tasks that reset automatically, progress tracking that actually motivates you, and a clear picture of how your month is going at any given moment.
It works on desktop and mobile. It's fast, elegant, and genuinely useful. And it was built by someone who needed it.
Why I Built It
Running multiple businesses simultaneously — which is the reality of life inside the Whittingham Group — means you are constantly managing competing priorities across different clients, ventures and projects. Whittingham Marketing & Consultancy. Al's Drum School. RJS CBD. Simply Softeners. Whittingham Coaching & Mentorship. And more besides.
I tried everything. Spreadsheets were too rigid. Sticky notes got lost. CRMs were designed for pipelines, not daily activity. Project management tools like Asana and Trello were built around projects with defined end dates — not the endless rhythm of recurring tasks that keeps a business running.
What I needed was something different. Not a CRM. Not a project tool. Something that tracked my activity — the weekly deliverables, the monthly reports, the daily check-ins — across every client and venture, in one place, with a visual that told me instantly whether I was on top of things or falling behind.
Nothing like that existed how I wanted it to. So I built it.
What Dexter Does
At its core, Dexter is built around a few powerful ideas.
Tasks belong to Tags. Every task you add is assigned to a Tag — which represents a client, a project, a life area, or anything else you want to track. You might have a Tag for each of your clients, one for personal tasks, one for your household. The Tag system means everything is organised, filterable, and visible at a glance.
Tasks have a frequency. You set each task to repeat Daily, Weekly, Fortnightly, Monthly, or mark it as a One-off. When a recurring task is done, you tick it off. At the end of the period you hit Reset and choose which frequencies to start fresh. The rhythm of your work is built in from the start.
Progress is always visible. Dexter shows you a live progress ring for the whole month, frequency breakdowns, a burndown chart tracking actual versus expected pace, a heatmap showing your activity day by day, and a momentum tracker showing which clients or projects are getting your attention this week. You always know exactly where you stand.
The streak keeps you honest. Every day you complete at least one task, your streak grows. Miss a day and it resets. It sounds like a gimmick. It genuinely isn't.

Who Is Dexter For?
This is the question I get asked most often, and the answer is broader than you might think.
Dexter is for entrepreneurs running multiple ventures who need to see everything in one place. It's for freelance consultants managing multiple clients who need their recurring deliverables to never slip. It's for agency owners who need an operations layer that shows what's done and what needs attention. It's for project managers who don't need another full PM suite — just something that keeps the daily rhythm tight. It's for busy parents and households managing the endless list of things that need doing. It's for side hustlers balancing a day job and a growing passion project.
If you have more to do than you can hold in your head, Dexter is for you.
And importantly — Dexter is not a CRM. It works beautifully alongside HubSpot, Salesforce, Pipedrive, Asana, Monday and Notion. Think of your CRM as your what to sell system. Dexter is your what to do system. Together, nothing falls through the gaps.
